Frequently Asked Questions

Can you weld aluminum with 75% argon and 25% CO2?

No. A 75% argon and 25% CO2 shielding-gas blend is generally used for MIG welding carbon steel, not aluminum TIG welding. CO2 is reactive at TIG arc temperatures and can contaminate the tungsten electrode and weld area. Aluminum TIG welding normally uses 100% argon, or an argon-helium mixture when greater heat input is required for thicker material or specific joint conditions.
